  • 24/7 LookOut Bot

    PSYCHO
    • Under Review

After my time in all the different trade servers, a thing that I thought could help EGC a little bit with runners, scammers and abusive users is a 24/7 LookOut Bot which stays on the server 24/7 and would record evidence of everything that is said in chat, mic chat, spycrabs etc.  I have seen a lot of people run and not many been caught. I feel this would be very beneficial and also give traders and spycrabbers a bit more trust knowing that if the other person scammed or ran, they would be caught.

Do you know how much resource and space you would need for a bot that records actions 24/7 on the server? We have stats for chat logs and users themselves can record evidence. Constant recording would be inefficient, but I would suggest recording is turned on by triggers, for the duration of a spycrab or when a user reports another user. This may be manageable, even then, it may be overwhelming.

Curious to see what other people think of the idea?

I think I suggested something like this before, I saw a server in a different source game that had a bot that recorded demos of rounds that were deleted unless flagged, etc after a few days. Useful for jailbreak where the results would be just slays or bans from certain teams, as it would be addressed within a day or two. Recording 24/7 video seems a bit much though.

It's an interesting idea that is probably worth investigating, but there is a fair chance its not feasible.

My bad didn't realise it was that hard. Thanks for that insight!

I agree with the idea of only having the video being recorded during events in which something that can be used as evidence occurs.

Couldn't you have the footage be saved with a timestamp so that when someone reports something, they could give the relative time the event happened, and footage that wasn't requested by users for reports could be scrapped after X time.

I don't think that would be too overwhelming, since only footage that's needed could be reviewed on request.

Not 24/7 but only on certain events. + 1
